                Result:             Won                8 – 0

The Bengals started their season off on the road against Liberty after getting rained out last week with Carroll County.  The Junior Bengals put on an impressive show shutting out the Minutemen from Liberty on their way to an 8-0 Victory.  Michael Hodges put the Bengals on the board first with a 6 yard run.  The defense and James Turner did the rest recording a safety in the fourth quarter securing the victory.

                Result:             Lost         6 – 0

The Bengals kicked off a two week stand where they find themselves playing 4 games over the span.  Unfortunately for the Junior Bengals, Dan River spoiled the evening with a 6-0 win at Ed Bassett Stadium.  Dan River scored in the first quarter on a sweep and neither team found the endzone afterwards.  Dan River gave the offense fits with blitzes in the second half.  The defense played well allowing the one score after a botched punt gave Dan River great field position.

Game Three        Home    vs.          Halifax

                Result:             Lost         21 - 7

The Bengals played their second game of the week Thursday and was defeated at home by visiting Halifax.  Halifax scored on their first possession after driving across midfield.  They hit a wide open receiver for an early touchdown to take the lead 7 – 0.  The Bengals had trouble moving the chains on offense and punted the ball back to the Halifax.  The defense was in position the majority of the night, but had trouble finishing plays.  For example, Halifax’s second score came on a tip ball that the receiver hauled in for the score.  The young Bengals have little time to rest because they play their third game in 8 days on Monday.

Game Four                 Home    vs.       Carroll County

                Result:             Lost         20 - 0

The Bengals played their third game in eight days Monday due to rainouts.  The Bengals hosted Carroll County in a game rescheduled from the first week in September.  Both teams played a scoreless first quarter, moving the ball across midfield only to see their respective drives stalled.  The Cavaliers from Carroll County took a 6-0 lead in the second quarter.  The Bengals was then left to play catch up and although working on their passing game is taking place, it is not developed to the point where they can be successful doing it in that situation.   Carroll County packed 10 in the box and stifled the run from the Bengals.  Two late “tack-on” scores came in the fourth quarter for the final score.  The young Bengals have little time to rest because they play their fourth game in two weeks on Thursday.

The Bengals play Tunstall on Thursday 10/12/06.

                                    RECORD:       1-3

Game Five           Home    vs.       Tunstall

                Result:             Won                6 - 0

The Bengals played Tunstall this week for their 4th game in two weeks.  The Junior Bengals started off strong intercepting a pass on Tunstall’s first drive and the offense took the ball straight down the field and scored for what proved to be the only points on the night for either team.  Tunstall tried one last drive with time running out in the fourth quarter, but the Bengal Defense held on a 4th and less than 1 from the 30 yard line.  The offense ran the clock out for the Win.  The young Bengals will get some much needed rest in the coming week with only one game, next Thursday.

The Bengals play Patrick County on Thursday 10/19/06.

Game Six            Away     vs.     Patrick County

                Result:             Lost         44 - 0

The Bengals played Patrick County on the road Thursday and might have been better suited to stay on the bus.  Patrick County beat the young Bengals in every area of the game and trounced the Bengals 44 – 0.  Patrick County on-side kicked 6 times on the evening and received 5 of them.  The Bengals will need to get things back on track for this week’s match up with cross-county rival Magna Vista.

Game Seven        Away     vs.     Magna Vista

                Result:             Won                10 - 6

The Bengals played Magna Vista on the road Thursday and came away with a 10-6 victory.  The cross-county rivals jumped out on the Bengals by taking the opening kick off the distance for their only touchdown.  The score stayed that way until the Bengals drove the field in the fourth quarter and failed on a 4th down from the one yard line.  The Bengal defense then tackled the runner in the endzone for a safety.  The Bengals took the free kick and scored the game winning touchdown on a slant pass.  Way to go Junior Bengals.
